I know it has been a VERY long time since my last post! I just really needed to take a break and just craft for a bit.

In that time I have been SO busy! Lately I have really gotten into making cards. I think maybe the best part about that is the almost instant gratification you get from them. As a quilter that can work on a project for MONTHS. Then finally get the gratification of the finished project (or have the project end up as one of those UNFINISHED projects that end up stuffed in a box) it is so nice to actually be able to start on something and finish it the same day!

I have been doing lots of vintage style cards. I will be sharing those with you in the next few posts. I would LOVE feedback on what you think. I am considering opening an etsy store and selling them. So let me know if you think this is something I should consider strongly.

I have also moved and completely revamped my craft room! I gotta say it is exactly what I have wanted and dreamed of for a very very long time and I just cannot WAIT to share it with you. It is ALMOST finished! IKEA is the BEST for craft rooms. I will show you what I HAD and and the new one. I think you will agree it is a MUCH improved room. I spent years drooling on some of the rooms I saw on pinterest for so long! So it was such a blessing to be able to create my craft room using that vision.

I plan to share it very soon!

In the meantime, here is the card I made this week. I hope you like it. Also PLEASE tell me if what you think! I have not been making cards long so still working to find my way.

This card is a wedding card I made. I used Wedding Tilda to make it as well as Pion Design papers. The flowers I got at Wild Orchid, and the punch is by Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page punches.

I colored the stamp using distress ink markers.
As with the first card, I used Pion Design papers. This one is from the Paris Flea Market line. I can't recall the line I used to make the first card. Let me know what you think! I will try to start posting regularly now.
Take care!
I know it has been quite some time since I posted anything. Well the truth is that as in all things, my crafting has changed a bit. Don't get me wrong, I still love quilting and have no plans to stop anytime soon. But making a quilt can take quite a bit of time. And frankly at the end of it, you are really trying to just get the darn thing finished!!

After working on a very lengthy quilting project, I found myself needing to do some crafts that didn't take quite so much time. I have made quite a few things during my hiatus from blog land. I thought I would share some of them with you. Over time of course. If I just threw them all out there now, I wouldn't have anything to share with your for a while. So I will just share them slowly and throw in some things I am working on now too.

The below pictures are of a wood box I altered as a Christmas gift for my oldest daughter. I had a blast making it too. I started by decoupaging it with some vintage style card stock. Then I used some Tim Holtz distress ink (vintage photo) all over to really beef up the vintage look of it.

I thought it would be a great idea to add to the vintage keepsake theme, to include some vintage family photos. The one on the left is my mother (her granny) when she was 17. The photo on the right is of my grandmother and grandfather (her great- grandparents) when they first got married. She really loved this touch.

I enjoyed making it. But I really loved her reaction to receiving it. It made all the work worth it and made me want to give my family even more. It feels so good to be able to give those you love something that comes from your heart. Something that they can hold on to, even after you are gone. I really enjoy crafting. I also love being able to give those I love something beautiful.
I have been admiring these for so long! There are many variations of this project out there in the blog world. Lots and lots of tutorials. I actually made mine using a combination of a few of them. I planned to do my own tutorial, but honestly I don't think I could have done better than Kristen at KSarahDesigns did on hers.

Kristen's

I plan to add a light kit to mine as well as soon as I can make that trip I have been dying to make to Ikea!
This project actually was started on Thanksgiving evening. I had quite the assembly line going of me, my daughter Ryan, my niece Jaycee and my grand daughter Avery. I ran out of wax paper right in the middle of the project. I was surprised at how much it used. Because the girls were having so much fun I broke one of my cardinal rules and went to Walmart to pick up more. Now obviously, going to Walmart is not against any rule of mine. It wasn't that. No no no...it was WHEN I went. This was THANKSGIVING EVENING...yep you got it...I went to Walmart on BLACK FRIDAY!!!! It took me no less than an hour and a 1/2 to pick up on large roll of wax paper! Having never been there on this particular event, I was really shocked and amazed at what people go through to get a deal. The wax paper just happened to be on the grocery isle designated for a low priced computer! ALL the carts GONE. The self check lines..no longer self check out. This had been my plan but it didn't work out. So I waited in awe of it all. Did I grab a few items that were marked way down? Of course I did! I am a living breathing woman and grandmother. Walking past a great deal without actually taking advantage of it, is almost against my religion!

As we were making mine, <strike>Jaycee & Avery</strike> we decided that we would also make one for their rooms. We are still working on those, and are actually making those a little different. I will post a tutorial on it very soon. Let me just say I LOVE how those are turning out. It really put a great spin on it for a teen and preteen girls room! I cannot wait to get them finished and show you. Really cool!

Here is mine! The photo quality is not that wonderful. I should have taken advantage of a great deal on a camera too while I was there! I however have a hard fast rule of not buying anything for me during that time of year until I have completed all of my Christmas shopping. A decent digital camera is on the top of my wish list though!

This is just 2 of them... believe me if you google "faux capiz shell chandelier" you will find tons of them with many differing variations on how you connect them, what material you use to make the shells, & what you use as the base. Some are pendent style and some are attached directly to the ceiling. Which variation you choose to use is all up to you, or use a combination of several of them. Just get creative and make one! There is even one that uses strips of wax paper instead of round pieces. I really tried to find that link for you but wasn't successful. Just google away. You will find it!

Till next time, take care and have fun being creative!

So much has happened since my last post. I have moved back in with my mom in Forney. With my health being as it is, living on my own with my 13 year old son (who is a handful on good days!) is just not feasible At first, I was really concerned about it. I was worried so much about losing my sewing room as well as my office. This is not only the room where I sew and create, it is also where I work part time. My mom's home is very large and she has a media room that is pretty much sitting empty. So, she said I could convert it into my sewing room/office.

The room is actually larger than the room I was using in my home. So for the first time ever, I am able to set up my quilting frame in my sewing room. Also, because I am not broke every day as I was before, I was able to purchase a new sewing machine and put the Viking on the frame as it was purchased to be used.

Isn't she purdy!

For the first time EVER I finally loaded her up and started trying to practice using her on a couple of pieces of muslin. I was starting to really get the hang of it and had worked out my tension. Then it jams up and scares the ever lovin'..you know what out of me! From what I can gather a piece of thread caught somewhere along the plate that covers the feed dogs and pulled it up. When this happened the needled came down on it and bent the plate so now it will not go back on it snugly. I am not sure if the plate is the problem or if it has jumped time now. When the needle goes into the quilt, the thread is not catching anything! It won't even bring the bobbin up. I fear the timing is off on it now.

It's just as well. It's probably best to give her a tune up and servicing before I put her to work as hard as I need. I have 5 tops waiting to be quilted.

The room is a mess right now. I am still working on it, as you will see. But she is coming along beautifully! I purchased this beautiful Armoire from my brother. He gave me a great deal. I am thinking he may have regretted that later though. Moving this giant up the stairs was really touch and go. Finally, and much to my <strike>his</strike> relief it was up the stairs. Though we have decided if my mom ever chooses to sell the house, the armoire will go with it!

These are fantastic for storage! As of today I have just got it cram packed full of stuff.

I am getting storage containers to use inside and get some kind of system going. I also have another peg board that I am going to cut to size and mount on the inside of the doors. This would be a great place for those tools that I use rarely. But still need often enough not to put into my other black hole...the closet. (not going to show a picture of that place!) That will be another project to do once I get the room under some kind of order.

My absolute favorite addition to my sewing room is my new sewing machine. The Viking Mega Quilter is only a straight stitch machine. The machine I was using before I purchase the Viking was a Singer 7426. I just hated that machine. It was so loud! The Viking was so smooth and fast. BUT again, straight stitch only. This is really what I do 98% of the time. But then I have that 2% of the time that I need a zig-zag or blind hem stitch for applique. I had been just putting the projects aside that needed anything other than a straight stitch in the hopes that some day soon I would have the money to purchase another machine or break down and use the singer. Well after moving into my mom's I got my first paying job! A lady I had met through a group called Free-cycle where you post items you are trying to get rid of for free to anyone willing to pick them up. You know the old adage "One man's trash is another man's treasure." She had given me a ton of fabric from cleaning out her sewing room back when I first began sewing. So in all honesty, I would have done the job for free for her! But she insisted on paying me. I wish I had pictures of it! It turned out great. I had to do some improvising to get the backing and border fabric to be large enough, but it came out great. It was a baby quilt for the lady she works for. I needed to applique the baby's name on the back. So I broke down and purchased a new machine after trying to use the Singer. I had been doing a ton of research and testing several machines. I wanted certain features which normally come on a machine that is over 1,000.00. I finally found one that was only 800 and had everything I wanted and more! I purchased the Juki HZL-F400.

This is just a sneak peek of my new favorite room! More to come as I get it all finished up! Right now I am knee deep in fabric folding it to put it in some way where I can keep a better idea of what I have. Till now I have been folding it and storing it under my cutting/pressing table. Which works well except for one major problem. I forget it is there! One thing that I do when I see something I want to make is start going through my stash in my head to see if I have fabric to make it already. This way no need to buy any more right? Well I have a very hard time remember what I actually have much less how much! I am hoping that by having it in a place where I can see it better, it will not only help me remember what I have but inspire me to use it!

I also am wanting to install some shelving. I have a wall space above my cutting table that would be perfect for shelves that go up about 4 sets. I want to get one that has the cube storage for the bottom shelf, then about 2 or 3 shelves mounted on brackets. That way I can get some of my knick knacks up and out of the way.

So it is coming along again. Slowly but surely. I am certainly not flush with cash. I am however not nearly as strapped as I was before. I still have rent to pay and bills. However, before it was just me bringing in the only income and that was only my disability. Now I have a part time job to help get me back on track and no longer having to support my husband too. Things are definitely looking better!

I have added my pinterest button on the right side of the page. If you are into quilting or anything related to sewing, crafts, DIY and related, you have to check it out. I have thousands of pins and more than 30 boards. There are so many tutorials, free patterns, fabric shops, and even links to sites that will give you the plans to build things! There is really something there for everyone. Be careful though it is HIGHLY addictive! But...what the heck! Its all for fun!

Till next time, I will try to blog more and post more on what I am working on. I am about to start a new quilt today. I have really come to like the modern quilts and am going to start one today! Yeah! I will keep you posted on it!

My oldest daughter is getting married next month. We began the kick-off to the traditional parties that proceed the wedding. Her wedding is a destination wedding which will be in Gulf Shores AL. I cannot wait! She is marrying a great guy. My oldest daughter has given me so much joy. All of my kiddos have. Each in their own way. My oldest has by showing me that all of those talks, all of those times I tried so hard to tell her the things I wanted her to know, remember and most of all APPLY to her life got through. Seeing that all come to fruition gives a parent such a great sense of accomplishment. Like it was all so worth it. She is such a beautiful woman inside and outside. I am just so happy for her but more than anything I am PROUD!

She was such a great sport throughout the party. Embarrassed on occasion by the personal gifts given to her by her wonderful friends. My daughter is very very beautiful but she is also unbelievably modest. After a few drinks she did lighten up quite a bit. The whistle she was given shaped like a certain male body part was blown more and more as the shots came her way!

I made my daughter a couple of things. I got the tutorials to make them from one of my absolutely favorite blogs Shanty2chic.

I made her this plaque. Honestly, I had my doubts about how this was turning out. It just needed something but I couldn't come up with what! Eventually I decided to do a finish on it. It came out pretty good. Again, had my doubts but it all came out great in the end.

She liked it and that is all that matters right? You can make of of these too. The tutorial is here. I made mine on a piece of MDF.

I also made her a set of apothecary jars. I had made a set for myself and my mom too. I did hers a little different.

Again, I got the tutorial to make this gift from Shaty2chic's site. You can find many other sites that will give you a tutorial to make them. I just like the tutorial style they made the best and went with it. Again, she loved it. I used some wired edge burlap ribbon I had to embellish them. They came out great I think. I tried to make them a little different from mine and my mom's set.

After the gifts were given it was off to the bachelorette party WOO HOOO! Nope no male dancers, (not that I didn't beg for them!) strippers or any kind of pickup bar! My daughter isn't into that kind of thing. We had a blast though. An unexpected one.

We went to a restaurant/bar in Rockwall close to home. It had recently started having dueling pianos much like the place downtown called "Pete's Piano bar" which is a really fun place to go. We had been before to Pete's. My brother in law Richard, worked there in the past. He is not actually my brother in law. To be exact he is my brother's brother in law! Yeah, go figure out that one!!! Richard is a VERY talented pianist. He is actually a Grammy award winner. He wrote some of the music in the Beverly Hills Cop II or III and the soundtrack won a Grammy! Pretty cool huh! How many peeps can say they have a Grammy award winner in the family? Anyway, I got off track there! The surprise was when we walked into Avante, there was our bro Richard! We had no idea he worked there! So he really did make the night special. See the pics. As you can see it was a blast!

The above pictures really need no explanation do they? Girls just having fun and acting crazy! Then they called ME to the stage. I am VERY VERY shy! I was NOT drunk at all so I cannot TELL you how much I didn't want to go up there. But after all this is for my daughter and they had all been such great sports, I really had no other choice. This is when I was sang to by on of the other pianist..lol.. Honestly, I cannot even remember what he sang. All I wanted to hear was you can leave the stage now!! lol The best thing was when I looked and there was my daughter, coming to the stage with me as we my other daughter. They came up there so I didnt have to do it alone! Boy was I thankful to them!

It was a great time! They went on to another place after Avante closed. I went home. Not the party girl I use to be I guess! But still, I had such a wonderful time. It is really nice when you can go out with such wonderful people, have a blast and the best part is some of those people are your family! Now that is when you know how truly lucky you are!

After going through blog after blog, I finally settled on how to do the curtains in my living room. I knew I wanted to use drop cloths. I like the style, texture and even more the savings they offer. I was hung up on how I wanted to do them. I like the contrast of having dark and light. I happened upon an extra long table cloth in the clearance section at Walmart. I used it for the top. I wasn't sure if I wanted the contrast material on the top of bottom of the curtain. The more I thought about it, the more I thought having them on the top was the best option. Mostly because of the weight. I wanted them to hang well and in my mind I thought having the lighter material on the bottom might keep them from hanging as I wanted them to. I could be way off on that, but I didn't want to get them all made, only to discover I should have gone with my gut. By using the contrast band, I was able to make both sets using one 6'x9' package. This was great! I later found this to be even more important since I discovered they have a slight variance in color from package to package, even when you use the exact same brand. I am really happy with how they came out!! I purchase the tiebacks at Lowe's as well. They were a whopping 2.00 a piece!! YEAH!

Now get this, in my search of saving the almighty dollar, and blog searching I discovered a tutorial of how to make your own curtain rods!! Yes!! It cost me a total of $5.00!!! That is for BOTH rods!! You have to measure exactly how long you want them since you are cutting them and they are not expandable. I painted them with oil rubbed bronze. I purchased 2 pkgs of clip rings. Each had 14 clip rings for only 7.00!

I plan to make another set. I will post a tutorial on how I did them when I do. I was too nervous making these to have been able to document each step as I needed to. I was also not all that sure how it would come out. Now that I have made one set, I feel confident enough to tackle another! Maybe even improve on it a bit!.

I cannot recommend this enough! I was able to make the curtains and curtain rods as well as buy the clips, brackets and tiebacks all for under $55.00. That is BOTH windows complete!! There is nothing that looks home made about them! This is the first set of curtains I have ever even attempted. Keeping in mind I have been sewing for all of a year! If I can make these anyone can! So get out there and get your DIY ON!! Step back and see what you can do. Feel that overwhelming sense of accomplishment that YOU did it! Even saved a bundle doing it! My DH is so proud of them! I think he may have even been shocked at how well they came out. I was too to be honest. Now I cannot wait to tackle my next project.

Have a great day!!

FINALLY completed the living room curtains! After pouring all over blogland, in search of a DIY plan that worked for my livingroom (and pocketbook) I finally settled on a hybrid of several. I made my own curtain rods using metal 3/4" conduit, some wood dowels for the ends to give my screw in finials something to grab onto and the finials I purchased at hobby lobby. I was a bit nervous going in, but with the cost being so low, I figured if it was a project that failed, I could afford it. Turn out GREAT!

You would NEVER EVER guess these were DIY rods! They look as good as the 20.00 rods you buy all the time for 25% of the cost! The curtain clip rings really make these even better. I painted mine oil-rubbed bronze but you can paint them black, white, antique white, or so many other possibilities. Especially with all the different metallic paints they have now. They are held up with one hole hose brackets and 1.5" L brackets connected by a nut and bolt. You can make them in a double rod set too by using 2 hose brackets and a 2.5" L bracket! Like I said, it is really an easy thing to do for very little cost.

I used drop cloths. I went with the 6'x9' set. This was enough to do both windows. Because I added some additional fabric to the top I was able to make them over 90" long. With this exceptionally high wall, the height was needed. I kept them plain so they did not compete with my fireplace as the focal point on the wall. As you can see it is a very elaborate fireplace and I felt having curtains
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02158936140726010538noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2899366483116000242.post-21465519363974072962012-05-11T19:53:00.000-07:002012-05-11T19:54:17.043-07:00Versatile Blog Award

In my last post I received a comment telling me I had been nominated for the Versatile Blog Award. Being new to blogland I had never heard of anything like it. Me? Award? No WAY! lol.. I checked it out and it is more of a blogger to blogger kind of thing. A way to get to know the other bloggers and share with your readers (no matter how few that may be) a little about yourself as well as introduce them to the blogs you read regularly that inspire you. You are to nominate those 15 blogs for this award. Kind or like a chain letter thing but without the "if you do not send this out you are either not a true christian or you will be struck with bad luck for X number of years" you know the ones I mean. It isn't like that. It is more of a get to know other bloggers and let them know that you appreciate the time they spend and information they share. Some of the bloggers on here are just so amazing aren't they? I mean Super bloggers! I cannot imagine ever reaching that level, but I am glad to have discovered this outlet of creativity as well as being able to share with others the things I find. I have these "Super bloggers" to thank for teaching me all I have learned in sewing and crafting. http://www.thestonybrookhouse.com is the one that nominated me for this award. I will be thanking her on her blog. You should go check it out. It is a really cute blog! The hardest part of this award for me is to limit it to only 15 blogs. So many of them have been an inspiration to me.

The 15 blogs/bloggers I discovered recently (since I am so new to blogland pretty much all of them are recent) that I wish to nominate are as follows. Many I am sure already have receive this nomination but this is more about sharing than anything else right? Some are new bloggers and some are Super bloggers and in between the two. I wanted to take this opportunity to show the blogs that really help inspire us. They are just incredible blogs! I also wanted to include the blogger that nominated me. However, that would make it all pretty redundant wouldn't it? Regardless, you must check out these blogs if you haven't already. Many I am sure are too busy to follow through with this. However, that is again not what I wanted to do with this. It is more of my own way of saying "hey, you inspire me and make me want to create! Thank you so much for all the time you spend on blogging and sharing your knowledge with us". That and to let anyone that reads my blog know you have GOT to check these sites out!

You will waste at least a couple of days just going through them all and thinking to yourself "man, I have to make that!" or "I have always wanted to make one of those!". Well worth your time reading! Mr Nana isn't all that thrilled with my discovery. I have tripled my crafting allowance. But he is really tickled that I felt the need to include the purchase of power tools in that allowance. Oh and that I am willing to share!

The final part of this nomination requires I tell 7 things about myself.

1. I discovered my creative side only recently. I am disabled and not sure if it was more that I simply never had time to feel creative or the need to rediscover myself after my life changed so drastically. Regardless of the reason, I am thrilled with the final result. I found a quote recently. I don't know the author, but I love the sentiment. It says "Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, she became a butterfly". It really fits me. I may have lost many things because of Lupus. I have also found many. Love of my family and how truly loyal they are as well as the feeling of not battling this alone. As well as discovering a side of myself that had been dormant for so long. A creative and artistic side that I know was there, but because of the need to be rush through life, it was stifled. Not any longer.

2. I have 5 children and 3 grandchildren. All of which I adore obviously. Not only that but I am so proud of them. My oldest daughter is the best mother I have ever known. I see her and I am filled with such pride in her. When I see her with my grand daughter and see just the incredible woman she is, it is then that I know that I must have done something very very right raising her. I mean I cannot take total credit. She is the person she is. But lets face it, if I had been a lousy mom I could have screwed it up. It is nice to see your children grown and know all those things you were working so hard to instill in them took. It makes it all worth it.

He was joking of course. This was from a devout Southern Baptist man that never drank a drop in his life! I am not a drinker either. Not because of any deep religious beliefs but more the fact that I just never liked the taste of it. Even as a teen when my friends would do the normal rebellious thing and get some alcohol. I never drank. I tried it of course but hated it. As I got older I drank only when I went out to a club. Then it was more to loosen up and because of being so thirsty when dancing.

I knew this and more than anything wanted to offer her the comfort she needed. I know that the hardest part about dying is not the person that dies, but those they leave behind. So it worried me that she was so upset over my lack of faith. However, I also felt strongly that I couldn't be a hypocrite and proclaim faith I simply didn't feel. I tried. Lord knows I tried. I prayed 3 times a day begging to be shown the way. Nothing. Then one day it was there. I felt it as strongly as I know my own name. That day after church I felt it so strongly I cried. I called my sister and she took me to the pastor and I was saved. He has been in my heart each day since and has gotten me through some very very hard times. My mother is also happy I found my way. As much as I would love to say I found it for her. I didn't. He found me.

7. I love crafting, sewing, woodworking, DIY anything, burlap! Quilting and pretty much anything creative. I have taught myself to sew, quilt and teaching myself woodworking. I have learned so much this past year and am learning more each day. I have one child still at home. He is 12 and pretty much lives to play video games. He is still his mom's boy though. I am aware each day that our time is limited and I never take one day for granted. I try to live this way with all of my family. I hate the reason I feel this way. However, I have to appreciate that fact that it has opened my eyes to see that each day is to be appreciated and loved. That life is short and speeds by in the blink of an eye. One day you are changing diapers and the next you are attending their graduation or wedding. I live each day in the hope that that day I made sure my family knew they were loved deeply by me. So when I am no longer here to tell them, they will feel it in their hearts and it will comfort them each day.

Hard to post in your blog about sewing projects when you have not stepped foot in your sewing room all week. Not sure how many of you that read this are aware of it, but I have advanced lupus. I actually originally had included it in my blog title because it is unfortunately a large part of my life and is actually the thing that brought me to sewing and quilting in a round about way. However, when I started posting it came to me that I didn't want my blog to be about a person Lupus that quilted. I wanted it to be about a quilter that just happen to have Lupus. It is of course a part of my life but it isn't my LIFE. It is only a small portion of it. It has definitely made a large impact on it. Shortened it I am sure. But then many things could have done this as well. My main goal is to try to keep it on the sidelines as much as I can. There are times I am successful it doing that. Others, not so much! Especially recently. Not sure if it is the Lupus that has been giving me so much hell lately of the Fibro. It can be hard to make a distinction sometimes. Then again, does it really matter which one the culprit is? Don't really think so.

I try to use this time to research and find great patterns and tutorial. Come up with plans to do things around the house... you know, that kind of stuff. So that is what I have been doing. I have been hoping to find some fabric that I can use to make some quilts to donate to some of the tornado victims. Not any luck so far, but I still have some hope. I never really know how long the down time will last but I try to wake up each day and do the body check. I usually don't put much stock in how I feel in the morning. Lets face it, as any Lupie can tell you, mornings are generally pretty crappy. However, on a good day the crappiness is only temporary and will fade in an hour or two and you can get moving around.

Today is my youngest grand daughter's birthday. She turned a whopping 1 years old today! My daughter brought her over for a visit. I asked her to since the regular on the phone "happy birthday" just doesn't have the same wow factor for a 1 year old as it does say a 3 or 4 year old. My daughter had some homework to do for a college class. Mr. Nana was a sweetie and agreed to watch my grandbaby while my daughter used my laptop to do her homework. They were playing and we could hear them both laughing up a storm. Then we both noticed it had gotten really quiet. I then bet my daughter that they were asleep, laying on the couch. I was HALF right. She came running back to my room and grabbed her cell and got this adorable picture which I absolutely adore! Can't wait to frame it and get it hung! But mostly it just shows how much Mr Nana adores our youngest grand daughter.
There he was, with our grand baby all snuggled up in his lap, wrapped in his favorite bathrobe. Both of them sound asleep! Gotta love it!
Till next time, have a great day!
I have been working on several projects at the same time. You know what that means.. lots of small things done but nothing big finished. I tend to like to work that way though sometimes. Sometimes you just need some projects you can finish up quickly. Kind of like an instant gratification thing. That is one reason I was never keen on online shopping. I mean you find great stuff but then you have to WAIT!! OMG!

I remember as kids when my mother was raising us on her own. We really had it rough at times. When she went grocery shopping that twice a month and actually bought those snacks. Me and my sisters would eat them up within a few days! Woosh....Gone! So patience was never a strong point for me. However, now I have found online shopping to be my best friend. I no longer can drive so it is my only way to shop. Now, that I have had to use it, I have really come to appreciate it. I mean how many times have you gone shopping and would be going through the sale stuff finding something your really like only to have the rest of the grouping sold out or not in your size? I hate that! lol Now if one online shop is out, I simply locate the rest at another shop! Simple!

So I made a few things.. first I made some place mats to go in our breakfast area that actually match my kitchen. I made most of the stuff in there and so I guess it is only right the place mats needed to be made by me as well...
I am working on a table runner to go with them

I also made a pin cushion to decorate my sewing room. I got the instructions from DIY Dish. . I am not extremely happy with how it turned out. Not because of the design. That part is great. But mostly it is probably my sewing inexperience. I plan to make another one and see if it will come out better. I am holding off till I can get something for the head part like they suggest. They suggest a small Christmas ornament like a glass ball or glitter one. So I will hold off til I have make a Hobby Lobby run (which thank goodness did NOT get hit by the tornado that touched down withing only a few hundred feet from it) and pick one up! The Kwik Kar Lube shop next to it is history and nothing but a pile of cinder blocks now. But my favorite store in the world is still there and in full working order! yeah!

While this post has nothing to do really with quilting or sewing. This blog is also about my life. My experiences and feelings about them. To not include a post about something which effects me so profoundly and has certainly scared the beejesus out of me would be crazy. It is also why I have not posted. I was just unable to find a way to post a happy, up beat and fun blog post about sewing and quilting. Right now I am busy working on quilts, yes. But quilts that will give comfort. Quilts that will let someone know their pain is not forgotten. Quilts that will let a child hold something that is theirs and not lost. As you read this blog post you will come to understand why this means so much to me right now. It feels like I must do this. Call it survivor guilt or simply compassion. Call it what you want, but it is something I feel very strongly that I need to do.

Not sure if any of you have heard. I live in Mesquite TX. This is a suburb of Dallas. My family, and when I say my family I mean ALL of my family with the exception of my oldest daughter and my youngest daughter, live in Forney, TX. My mother and daughter specifically live in Diamond Creek. This is a subdivision there. My sisters live in Forney as well but in different neighborhoods. Forney is a small town. They have one 4A high school. One Walmart and a Brookshires. That small. My mom's subdivision is one like many of you know. Small surrounding an elementary school with about 125 homes. Not large by any means. Now, it will never look the same again.

On April 3rd the Dallas/Ft. Worth area had a really rough weather day. We had 15 tornadoes touch down from 1pm to around 5pm. Two of them in my town. There was some damage done. It was very scary. But the scariest time of all was when I was on the phone with my mom. She works from home about half the time. My daughter and grandson were there with her as well. We had just had a tornado touch down here. The second one in a couple of hours. I must have spent half the day in my hall! lol..

While on the phone with my mom, I was telling her it the storm cell was headed to her in Forney. She was outside looking at the sky, as most of us in tornado alley are prone to do when we hear there is one coming our way. I hear her say "oh yeah, there is tons of circulation! I can really tell with the dark and white clouds! Wait, there is one coming down now! Oh and it is not going back up! That one is staying down on the ground!" Meanwhile I am on the phone with her telling her to get the he$$ in the HOUSE NOW! My mother is a VERY stubborn woman. By the time I was done, I found myself screaming at her at the top of my lungs "Mom for the love of God get in THE HOUSE NOW!!!! PLEASE GET IN THE HOUSE!!" She finally did go in the house and get in her hallway. I could hear on the news that one was on the ground in Forney. I heard Walmart had been hit. I said as much to her on the phone. Her reply was "Something sure did because there is nothing but tons of insulation in my pool and back yard!" The total of the true devastation had not yet become known to her. Only after walking outside did she get the full picture of how much devastation had happened. Also how truly lucky she had been.

There were fortunately no deaths in the Dallas/Ft Worth area that day. By some miracle for sure. One woman in my mother's neighborhood was home with her grandchild and babysitting 2 other children. She was huddled in a bathtub with a 5 year old and two 18 month olds. After it stopped she had no home around her. Yet no injuries. I am attaching a video of my mom's neighborhood. It looks like a bomb went off! This is the footage someone took of the tornado going down the street. This is headed directly for my mothers home. Yet it took a turn here, just a small one and missed my moms house by only a very short distance.

I feel so fortunate. Those that I hold so dear are alive and well. My mother's home, while definitely damaged, nothing in compared to the other 75 homes in her neighborhood that had severe damage and in most cases demolished. Some actually GONE. Yet no deaths, not even a severe injury. I have been busy with life that sometimes can get in the way with blogging. I am working on trying to gather some donated material in a "free-cycle" group in our town. I am making some quilts for my mom to take to her neighborhood church and give to some of the effected families. Mostly the children who lost so much. My son went to the school in that neighborhood. The school itself was actually hit. The roof was peeled off. There was a woman that came to pick up her children (the tornadoes hit right when our schools let out). A teacher came running out to her car and said a tornado is coming. The woman instead chose to go into the school to ride out the safety. Her car was found across the field mangled and almost unrecognizable. Another woman came to pick up her child and went into the school as well. Moments later the car was picked up and thrown into a home across the street from the school. These woman should have ran out that day and purchased a lottery ticket for sure! The video below tells some of the stories I mentioned as well as shows some of the aftermath.

I feel so fortunate and in many ways a bit guilty. While my own home has been adjusted by the insurance company. I have a totaled roof, gutters, screens and fence. But compared to many, it is nothing. The thought of those I love so much being lost is enough to stop me in my tracks. I would have lost my mother, daughter and grandson in one foul swoop. That is a terrifying thought for sure. I choose to look instead at how fortunate I am to have them safe and sound. I am sure many in my area feel the same way. With so many tornadoes that day, I am sure many feel EXACTLY as I do.

We are in for some more rough weather tonight and tomorrow morning. Right now Oklahoma City and other towns in tornado alley are being hit. They tell us we have a slight chance of ours becoming tornadic as well. That is what they said on April 3rd as well so not going to feel much comfort in the word "slight" again.
Okay, so this isnt about quilting. However, we quilter's love to make our homes look their best. We also love a great project! I found one on the blog TheLetteredCottage. They have a how-to make this beautiful Pottery Barn Knockoff Eagan Mirror. The price for this thing is unbelievable. For one with only 9 mirrors well over 300. For a large one your are in the ball park of over 600.00. I certainly can't afford a 600.00 mirror! But I can make one for $57.00 using some power tools, elbow grease and a handy dandy Hobby Lobby 50% off coupon.

I was DETERMINED to make this mirror! I just loved it the moment I saw it. It fit my style and furnishing so well. The one in the tutorial uses rubbed oil bronze paint. That stuff is wonderful! However, it wouldn't really go with my black wrought iron bedroom furniture. So I made mine painted black and used silver rosettes. I have quite a few silver accent pieces in my bedroom. It really turned out beautiful. I hope you will give it a try yourself!

Go for it! I got the wood trim at a place called ReStore. It is discounted building material. It is owned by Goodwill. I got 8ft trim pieces for only 1.00 each! So the total price was 57.00 but seeing it hanging on my wall, knowing I made it myself.....PRICELESS!

Have a great day and make something beautiful!
Okay, I have been a busy girl! After the lamp I did yesterday turned out so great. I had planned to redo the cutting table or at least make it look more attractive. After I did the lamp, it just made the table scream FIX ME! So ... I did!

I got a closet rod and made some curtains to hide all my ahem..storage as opposed to junk? After that was done I started eyeing my pressing pad. It was gold! That certainly didn't go with the rest of my room. Then I saw the left over material from the curtains. Yep, still plenty there to cover it. I pulled out my handy dandy electric staple gun and went to town. Getting the staples out where I had attached the prior cover was the hardest part. Those suckers were in there! I pressed on and got them all out. I am so glad I recovered it. It was the perfect touch. You can also see where I did some stencil work on the ends. I loved doing that. They are so easy to do and it really added to the table. It is really coming along well! I can't wait to show you all of it. Each time I complete something it makes me even more restless to do another project. It is like seeing the finish line and it pumping you up to go further! I look around at my room and it is coming together so great. The curtains are screaming at me to fix them! I mean the leopard print was here when I moved in. I never had the need to worry about changing them out. But now.... man they gotta GO! I have some material to make some more. Curtains that actually match the room. Not as much pink in them as the table though. I dont mind a little bit, but not all over. I will have to see..who knows... I guess we will just have to wait and see!

Till next time,
Nanasrcool
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02158936140726010538noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2899366483116000242.post-51930461622744005792012-03-12T12:54:00.000-07:002012-03-12T12:54:08.067-07:00Lamp Revamp!

My first lamp redo! I made a blogger rookie mistake and didn't remember to take a good before picture! All I can offer is a crop of a previous photo taken that had the lamp included. I know baaaad photo! I totally agree. I am working on getting better pictures for you guys. I have improved the photos I take with my phone. Still no comparison to photos taken with a real digital camera. I am not one of those folks with an Iphone. Though I must admit I am coming closer and closer to going over to the dark side and breaking down and getting one. The HiDef pics alone gets a big check mark in the "pros" column.

Anyway, as you know I am working on redecorating my sewing room. Making it more functional, organized and ....well pretty too! I mean we spend so much time in our sewing/crafting room. It should be beautiful as well. For me it helps with the inspiration process.

I am having a great time as well. Learning so many great things about re purposing items that have seen their better days. Adding my own style and making them fresh and new again. That is what I did with my lamp. There are so many posts online about how to redo your tired lamps.

I have this boring beige lamp that I use on my cutting table to add a bit more light to my cutting mat.

Again, I so apologize for the poor quality photo!

I covered the cord with painters tape. I also covered the the light set up with tape as well. Took the beige lamp and painted it black using Krylon's satin finish black spray paint.

While I waited for the paint to dry I made a pattern for the lamp shade by laying it flat on a large piece of paper. I used packing paper which is large and cheap. I started at the seam of the shade and first traced the top by rolling the shade till I was again at the seam and tracing it by pencil. Then did the same with the bottom making a pattern for my shade. I pinned the pattern to the wrong side of my fabric. I cut out my pattern giving an extra inch around the pattern. You can then us pinking shears to give a good finished edge and prevent fraying. I also sewed and pressed a 1/4" seam on one end of the fabric for a nice finished seam. I sprayed the lamp with permanent spray adhesive. I used Elmer's because it allows you to re-position the fabric before it becomes permanent. Also because it dries clear. I adjusted the fabric to make sure to get the wrinkles all smoothed out. Also, I made sure I had around an inch on the top and bottom of the shade. I also made sure to have the end seam (the pressed end) finish at the original seam on the shade. After it was attached and smooth. I cut small snips on the top and bottom extra inch. I used fabric glue and glued it to the inside of the shade.

Then I chose to add some trim to the top and bottom. Use your own choice of embellishment. You can use beading, ric rac as I did, or even ribbon. I attached it with a glue gun. It gives the lamp a more finished look.

Then I reattached my shade once it was dry to the lamp.

I wanted to pass along a site I discovered yesterday that offers free pantographs for you to print off on your home computer/printer. The site is http://www.urbanelementz.com/shop/category/free-stuff/. I don't know how many of you use pantographs, but I am new to this quilting on a frame stuff and need them to start out. After checking I found the price for them are pretty steep. So I went to see if I could find any for free. I found some! yeah!

Hope this helps you out.
Have a great day!
First and foremost, I got the Viking Mega Quilter and Inspira frame. We are putting the finishing touches on the frame set up. Luckily I have a spare room that was just waiting for my frame! I had given the bedroom furniture to my daughter. Worked out for the best! Isn't she purty? I haven't come up with a name for her yet. Honestly I have never considered naming a sewing machine. However, in this case I just feel she is deserving a name! She sews like a dream. I can't tell you the difference of sewing on her and my Singer. Like night and day. We are going to spend so much time together ...yep she deserves a name. Lucy seems to be one that keeps popping in my head. What do you think? Have any suggestions? I would certainly LOVE to hear them. Please comment below and help me name my new bestest friend.
As you can see we are still putting it together. We purchased some lights to go under the pantograph shelf. The room gets pretty good lighting but it still needs a bit more.
I am still working on organizing my sewing room. I purchased a peg board. These things are wonderful for putting away some of those tools you aren't using on a daily basis.
I have more to do that are still drying. I purchased some chalkboard paint and markers. They are so wonderful. The chalkboard paint will paint anything. Some of the jars I am using were jars from condiments that are all gone. They are really great for storage.
Here is the shelf with some of my storage ideas....
I am having so much fun with this organization project I have had little time to sew but I must make something to go on that new frame right? I have a few UFO's but none that are really large enough to do the frame justice. The other projects I have going are all things I am making for my children and grand children. I am afraid to use theirs in case the learning curve is too much and I mess them up. SO I am making a simple quilt for our bedroom...
Six blocks down and 14 to go!!!!
I have a few more projects I am working on. One will be a Pottery Barn Elgin mirror knock off! I am so excited about it! I will try to do a tutorial while I make it. The mirror costs over 300.00 and not even as large as the one I am making! The larger one sold by Pottery Barn is over 600.00!!! Bleg! I can't even imagine paying that much for a mirror! Hopefully mine will turn out as nice as theirs? We shall see!

Take care,
I am working on putting together a giveaway for you! This will be my first so I need to work on the logistics including d/l a random number generator. I want to do a small one first. Then a really good one when I post my new sewing room reveal! That is definitely worth a celebration, don't you think?

Keep watching! It won't be long at all! ;)
Can't wait!

I apologize for how long it has been since my last post. I have been so busy! Then I got hit with a nasty stomach virus that seemed to go on forever! Bleg! I am feeling much better today though! Yeah!

It is a good thing too since I have so many projects in the works. I am planning tutorials to post and show you how to make them for yourself. I am making quite a few items for my craft/sewing room as well as some items for your home. You will not believe the beautiful things! I have been thrift store shopping and have found so many awesome things to restore and re-purpose! I have also become a regular customer at Hobby Lobby as well as a few of my favorite online stores.

The other wonderful news? I am FINALLY getting my quilting frame and a Husqvarna Viking Mega Quilter. I am purchasing them reconditioned but getting a GREAT DEAL!! I am purchasing them from a woman that has upgraded to a AQPS (would LOVE one of those beauties!) and has been storing it for a year. She didn't use it much because using a mid-arm just was not what she needed. I am going to buy it this weekend (fingers crossed) and take it to my LQS and machine dealer for a tune up. I want to make sure it is in great working order when I tackle learning to quilt with it. The best part of this machine is I can take it off the frame and use it to do home dec sewing. This machine stitches at a whopping 1600 spm! Not to mention it has so many of the features I have longed for but didn't know I needed when I started this journey some 8 months ago.

I would definitely suggest to anyone that is just starting out sewing to get a beginner machine to learn. The reason for this is you really don't know where the journey will take you. You may go into it thinking you want to make clothes or something else. Only to find as you go along your interests take you into a totally different direction. I began my journey wanting to make some roman shades for my living room. Then I found I wanted to make pieced shades instead. They had a stained glass look to them. To make them I needed to learn how to piece. This took me to quilting tutorials. The more I read and watched videos, the more I learned I really enjoyed this kind of sewing! I still want to make home dec items, however I love quilting even more. Combining them?? Even better!

The thing is, different features on your machine are more important to each line of sewing. For instance, had I still wanted to make only home dec items, I needed to consider purchasing an embroidery machine and serger. Not to mention all of the specific feet you need like a zipper foot, invisible zipper foot, ruffler and blind hem foot. Had I wanted to make clothing, a whole other group of features would be more important to have.

I found that with quilting on a domestic machine you need a large sewing area. In the pictures I posted of my sewing room's before shots you can see my machine set up. It is pretty crude actually as well as homemade, but worked for me. I have 2 6ft folding conference tables placed side by side with the long sides end to end. I have them placed in the left corner of the room so my quilt has plenty of support and will not go off the end of the table, putting drag and making quilting more difficult as well as difficult to get good tension. My husband built a support frame that sits on the top of these tables and it is placed behind my machine so I have a level area behind my sewing machine also for the purpose of limiting drag. I have an extended table for my machine which goes around the free arm as well. I put some heavy duty vinyl sheeting purchased for $10.00 at Walmart on top of the plywood. This is also to allow the quilt to slide around easily. To the left of my chair and also connecting to my sewing table is a small desk. This is to support my quilt on my left and keep it up off the floor. It is also to get out of my lap and provide support again to eliminate any drag on my quilt, needle and machine. All of these things help the quilting process immensely. I found online a set up similar to this done by Marguarita McMannus in her book Sew and Quilt in Comfort. I purchased the video and took many of my ideas from there, but added my own twist to it. She uses insulation sheets in hers. We already had quite a bit of wood so I used it instead. I learned my layout design from Leah Day of Daystylesdesigns.com. You can find her blog on here or you can click on the button below on the left showing Freemotion Quilting Project. She has tons of Youtube video tutorials and I cannot recommend her enough!!! I have learned so MUCH from her! Please check her sight out. I purchased many things from her online store and she is the only place I have found Isocord thread.

I asked my DH for a sewing cabinet. I was sticker shocked when looking at the prices! I did get one though for Valentines day!

I simply cannot recommend these enough! It allows my machine to sit inside and have a flat sewing surface. It also has really cut down on the vibration I got using the fold out table my machine surface. I purchased the cabinet pre-owned of course on Craig's list. By doing this I was able to get a really nice Horn cabinet for only a little over $100.00. Had I purchased this same cabinet new, it would have cost me approximately $500.00 (guessing here but easily this amount based on my research). The only thing is it isn't motorized. I didn't actually need that feature though since I keep my machine up and ready all the time. I did need it to sit inside with a flat work surface. Since it was used the insert that came with it was made to fit a different machine. No problem! I simply purchased a Sew Steady insert here and had it made based on my cabinet's opening dimensions as well as my sewing machine model. I plan to have one made to fit my MegaQuilter as well. You can get them with or without a lip. Mine required a lip. Honestly had it not, my DH who is really handy to have around could have made one by cutting a piece of 1/4" Plexiglas the size of the opening and tracing the outline of my machine and cutting the inside to fit. Since the lip was needed, it made purchasing one more sensible.

Since I have a cabinet now and my machine is inside, I have removed the wood elevation and one of the 6ft tables (I am using the wood for another purpose and will share that project with you in a future post. You will just LOVE what I make with it! You will love how I re-purpose it and make something beautiful for my home!

So, I began not really knowing what I needed. Since I started, I learned I needed a higher surface for my cutting and pressing. I would get a back ache after bending over for so long cutting and pressing all the fabric at the beginning of my project. Since building my cutting/pressing table shown below (ignore the mess, I was in the middle of moving things around to reorganize the room), no more backaches! woohoo! I can now get all my cutting done at one time instead of intervals with resting in between. I also made a pressing pad that is much more firm and larger!

When I purchased my beginner machine ( a Singer 7426), I did not know some of the important features I would want, much less need. For instance a needle up/down feature is worth its weight in gold! No more having to hand turn the wheel to get your needle down so you can lift your pressure foot and pivot. When applique work is being done, I can't tell you how much I longed for this feature. The knee lift is another feature that is great to have, keeping your hands free to manipulate or hold the fabric while lifting the pressure foot. The only other feature that I have been seriously yearning to have is the thread cutting feature. Having a machine that cuts the top and bottom thread is a serious time saver and a thread saver when you are free motion quilting and trying to get to the bottom thread to cut it. You end up using a lot of bobbin thread just because you must pull so far before you can get to the thread and cut it! I longed for it even more since the little thread cutter on the side of my singer was missing. I purchased it refurbished as well. I got a great deal on it AND the shop even gave me a 6 month warranty. It was only a couple of years old. I am a firm believer in buying things gently used. You get a relatively new item, still in great condition (if you make sure to have it thoroughly checked out) without the big "new" price tag. Also, I have found your item will have the kinks usually worked out of them. I purchased my cars used most of my life for this very reason. Never old, usually only a couple of years old. The only reason I purchased a few new cars was due to my choice to lease instead and you couldn't do that with a used car.

I would highly recommend purchasing a lower cost machine. Not necessarily a cheap one. You want a good machine to learn to sew since you are still learning how to get that almighty tension working just right for you and a machine that isn't in good working order can be a nightmare in that area. If you do purchase a used machine, I can't stress enough the importance of taking it to a reputable sew & vac shop and have it serviced. This way you will get anything in need of repair done and it will have the timing adjusted as well as a good cleaning and oiling before you sit down and try to learn to sew on it.

Then only after you have been at it for a while, you should have a pretty good idea of the kind of investment you need to put in this hobby. You will know the features you really want in your machine as well as just how much you really enjoy sewing. Some may find it is just not for them and you will be really glad you didn't fork over the big bucks on a new sewing machine with all the bells and whistles. Especially since that can come with an enormous price tag, only to sit and collect dust. You will also know if you need to invest in an actual cabinet or if having it sit on top of a table or desk is sufficient for the type of sewing you do. You will know how much time you have to invest in sewing but mostly the type of sewing you really enjoy. It again will help you with the type of machine you need. How much throat space you will need is also a factor.

A perfect example is me! While the machine I have now has many stitches at the touch of a button, I have found I never even use them. The only stitch I use for the most part is the straight stitch. The only other is a zig zag which you can get in pretty much any machine other than a "straight stitch" machine. Ironically, the straight stitch machine I am purchasing is the one that has all the features I need so much! While I plan to use it on my frame, I will also be taking it off and piecing with it a lot. Not to mention using it for a lot of my home dec sewing as well since it will be able to take on the heavier fabrics much easier than the Singer I use now. The only other thing I wish for in a machine is that it be much quieter than my Singer. I am hoping it will be quieter once I am able to put it inside the cabinet like it is suppose to be instead of having it on blocks to get it at the correct level so I can use the extended table.

I won't know how I did on that end till I go and pick up the machine and put it to work. The Viking will also let me do more upholstery sewing, another area I enjoy.

I hope this helps. As I said, keep reading as I will have many tutorials for you. Also, I am making lots of progress on my sewing room. You will just love what I have done with the room! I am so excited! I just love how it is coming! It will be functional as well as beautiful! I am also excited about making new curtains for my room since the leopard print really doesn't go with the new decor. So many exciting things!!!

Take care! Can't wait to come back and show you all the neat things! I am also putting together a giveaway for you! Busy, Busy, Busy!
As you know I am working on my sewing/quilting/crafting room. I completed one of the projects I had planned for it. Only the start of many more. I found this on Sew4home.com. You can find this particular project here. I used fabric that compliments the color scheme I am using for my sewing room. It was a very easy project to do with easy to find supplies. The only problem I ran into was the Insulfoam. They sold it at Lowe's online in sheets of 2'x4' for only 3.00. However they didn't have this stocked in the store. The only comparable item was a 4'x8' sheet for 10.00. I went ahead and purchased the larger sheet. I am making another project board for my granddaughter's room and then I am using the remainder of the board to make a portable design board. So it all came out best. If you wish, you can purchase the smaller sheet online and they will ship it free to the store for pick up.

I love how it came out! It will make a great addition to my room won't it?

I have also gotten my shelves organized. I am using photo storage boxes which I purchased for only $1.50 each at Micheal's. I am planning to make some more by using decoupage. That will be a whole new experience for me. I have never attempted that before but I have been told it is a fairly simple thing to do.
I found the white buckets at the local goodwill for only .50 each. I have 6 of them. They are great for storing buttons, cutting tools and pretty much anything you can think of!
I found this at Hobby Lobby! I had been looking and looking for one of these! I had a 50% off coupon and used it happily. After the discount I got it for only 10.00! It was the last one.

So it is coming along great! I have many more projects in the works. Lots and lots of painting to do too. It will all be worth it. The more that I get done the more excited I get to have it finished. Keep watching. I will try and put together a tutorial for you as I come along. I am relatively new at all of this, but learning fast.

I am working on several projects at the moment that are at the quilting stage. While I am planning to purchase a frame very soon. I don't have one now and these projects still must be done. I have been doing most of my quilting up till now with the walking foot. I have practiced some free motion quilting. However, these are projects that are gifts for others. It is one thing to screw up your own quilt but an whole other to mess up on one you are giving as a gift.

SO, I am going to do this FMQ challenge I found on SewCalGal's blog.

Please if you are reading this and have been afraid to go to that final frontier of domestic machine quilting. Take the challenge along with me. We can go into that uncharted territory together! If you hear a scream and it sounds like someone is pulling their hair out, it might just be ME!

To join simply follow the link to ..SewCalGal's freemotion quilting challenge. This is a 12 month challenge. She has already put up January and February. January is a video post which is how I actually learn the best.

See ya soon! Let me know how it is going for you. I will try and post my progress as well. It would help a lot if I could get a camera. I had one. A nice one in fact. My son borrowed it and then it was never seen again! When I get another one I will be much more stingy with it!
