Yeah ME!! I am redoing my sewing room and it is coming along GREAT

We have moved my sewing room to one of the large bedrooms.  The room I was in before started to become the catch all room for anything that didnt have a permanent place.  You know things like the vacuum cleaner, the playpen I use when my grand babies are here and need to take a nap, my youngest son's toy overflow.  You name it and it came and invaded my space! lol.  Well I started taking the items I could and moving to my DH hobby room, the garage.  It took a bit but he got the hint! lol  So he came up with the brilliant idea to move my sewing room to the larger bedroom.

I mentioned the issue I had with my cutting/pressing table being too low.  I saw one online that seemed simple enough for him to build and we got to work getting the things to make it.  It was very inexpensive to make.  We just bought 2 9 cube organizer shelves and a door at Home Depot.  I then made my own pressing pad from some scrap wood we had.  It is all still a work in progress but it is really coming along.

My next wish is for him to build the quilting frame we have been talking about.  He has finally gone back to work after a 6 month stint of unemployment.  Hopefully financially things are going to turn around.  My disability check doesnt go far!

I am posting pics of my sewing room in progress.  We are hanging the peg board he made for me tonight above the cutting table.  It is amazing the difference it makes to have a cutting/pressing area that is high enough.  leaning over the one I had was killing my back!

If you stumble upon my blog, let me know what you think and please any suggestions you can give will be much appreciated!

  1. Hi Nana! I've followed the link to your blog from the comment you posted on my blog. (BTW: I left a reply to your comment there). Let me introduce myself, I'm Marcia from Little Pink Rose Quilting & Sewing and it's great to meet a fellow quilter!! You asked for any advice I might have to help you improve your blog. You're already off to a good start and as you continue to blog and share about your projects you'll discover the blog style that expresses you the best. As you quilt take good pictures to share and be sure to share the stories behind the quilt when possible, the story adds meaning and life to the quilt and what you've done, making things much more personable. My last word of advice, is if you're using a camera phone to take your pictures be sure to wipe the hand grease/fingerprints off the camera lens before taking the pics. The grease causes a haziness to the pictures....crisp, clean photos will show off your beautiful work. I pray the Lord blesses you as you continue to quilt and create!!

    1. Thank you.. I could have sworn I set it up as one you could reply to. I will get that fixed ASAP! As far as the pictures. I see what you mean. I wondered why they were so fuzzy. Honestly I just figured the camera on my phone was less than ideal (putting it nicely). My next purchase will be a inexpensive digital camera. It would definitely make this much easier. I have so many things I am working on at the moment and it would be nice to document them better. I will try cleaning off my cell and see if that helps atleast till I can get the camera. This weekend is full of projects so the sooner the better.

Thank you so much for the advice. I am so thankful.

    1. Thank you! My dh made that for me. I designed it, we are still doing some final touches. It needs paint and trim. We purchased 2 9 cube shelving units at home depot for 35.00. The top is a wood door that was 36.00! Considering the cost of one of these online that is a steal. The trim we purchased for it is only 7.00. We are going to finish it this weekend. I made my own pressing board using a piece of wood, a towel, some scrap fabric and a staple gun. I LOVE that more than anything.

Keep watching..I have tons of things in the works for my special room! I LOVE the ideas you have! I am visiting your blog daily!
